Milling
ImageAsphalt Milling involves the removal of existing asphalt surface.  This process is used to restore the surface to a specific grade and profile, free of bumps, ruts, wash- boarding and other imperfections.  A milling machine is equipped with a cutter drum that has hundreds of cutting teeth to remove asphalt and move it.  The teeth throw the milled asphalt to a conveyor to aid in its removal.

King Asphalt has a 2007 Wirtgen Milling Machine for your milling needs.  It has a 450 horsepower Mercedes engine.  It has a conveyor on front capable of loading trucks or wind rowing material on the side of the road for later use.  Our machine has the capability of milling 2 feet, 3 feet, 4 feet, or 6.5 feet wide.  We can mill to a depth of 12 inches.

King Asphalt has experience doing full depth patching.  This involves cutting out failed sections of road along with a portion of subgrade that can be refilled with fresh asphalt to ensure the road will not fail again.

We also perform road widening where we cut out a section of dirt and asphalt on the side of the road and refill it with asphalt.  This is important to help South Carolina make its primary and secondary roads safer for motorists.
